Both our boys (ages 5 and 8) take drum lessons with Matt. Our 8 year old has gone for 2 years and his skills have sure developed over this period of time. Matt is an amazing teacher with a true passion for music. Matt has a very patient teaching style and wants the kids to have fun, but do well and take it serious along the way. If you are looking to get started with drums or you’re more advanced and looking to hone in on your skills, Matt is the perfect teacher for you.

Matt Power is exactly the music teacher you need. He has been teaching my two boys, now 13 and 10, for several years and they have made incredible progress. Matt is able to quickly shift between teaching drums and guitar (and many other instruments) and brings both patience and excitement about music. He goes above and beyond to find music that my children will connect with, and this has allowed them to develop their own passion for music. Matt also readily works with music assigned by their school bands and goes out of his way to connect with their school music teachers for continuity. He also regularly sends music that he has transcribed to ensure his students are playing tunes that they really love. I highly recommend working with Matt!

I am a self-taught drummer, until I started taking lessons with Matt Power. My friends and family have always said that playing musical instruments always came easy for me. With that being said, I never was exposed to any foundation or theory in my approach to music and instrument playing. In all honesty, I never thought I needed it. I suppose I was willing to settle for mediocrity, without even realizing it. Then, an opportunity to take a class with Matt became available and truly, my vision of drum playing went to a much higher level. I found so much more clarity in my direction and found immediate gains in my playing because of Matt and his teachings. My take-a-ways from my drum lessons with Matt, up to this point in time, is the confidence that I've gained with my playing. With patience and practice, I can play nearly all of the grooves and rhythms that I fantasized about playing when the pursuit of this art, for me, was fresh. Although the execution of those grooves and rhythms may not be perfect, it's still a work in progress. I am inspired. Matt Power can take you there.
