Beautiful winery with tasty wine. The staff working with us was very courteous and helped explain their wines. They have great seating outside with large umbrellas to give you cover. I wish they served some small bites during the wine tasting.

I had high hopes for the experience here. Unfortunately, I would only rate it as a bit above average. We dined outside at the clubhouse grill and then ventured over to the tasting room. The grounds and lounges are lovely - not a bad view anywhere on the property. We had the pulled pork tacos which were delicious!
I didn’t rate it too high due to the tasting room experience. Our server was very nice, and the wines were pretty good. However, the pours stuck strictly by the book and the tasting fee was not waved even though we purchased a few bottles.

The Wente Vineyards event center is like Santa Barbara mission style in the Bay Area. So beautiful we didn't want to leave. Wonderful wines of course too. The gardens and grounds are impeccable, all surrounded by vineyards.

For us, this is like a winery in our backyard. We have been visiting this winery for the past many years and it is one of the best in the Livermore area. People here are generally super friendly in the tasting room. They have a generous amount of space in the outdoors for you to grab a bottle and enjoy the greens.

I am taking one star away since we didn’t have such a good experience at their restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation and they made us wait 45 mins. Which we didn’t mind as we could grab a bottle of wine and enjoy that at the scenic patio overlooking the golf course while we waited for the table. But after waiting for that long, they told us they wouldn’t be able to get us a table, which is not acceptable by any standards.

For wines, we can recommend morning fog in Chardonnay. And sparkling rose Grenache which is made of Pinot noir grapes. Both of these are not so dry. Riva ranch is their more popular Chardonnay but for my taste it’s bit on the drier side.

Made a reservation a week in advance and they scrambled to seat us when we arrived. Ended up seating us by the door and when we asked to have the door closed they gave us a hard time but said we can close it if it gets left open. A server then gave us a hard time and and was very rude to us. He also glared every time he came by our table (a guy in shorts).

Also they mentioned how they don’t serve food and you cannot bring your own so we planned to eat in advance. Then we are seated they asked if we wanted to order food which they started serving that day?

Also the nth generation merlot was disliked by the entire group.

Excellent all around! Wente is the top dog winery in Livermore, and for good reason. The grounds are the most beautiful and largest of any winery in the area, there is TONS of seating both indoors and outdoors, the servers and sommeliers are friendly and know their stuff, and the wines are great! I've never waited for a table here, I walk in and get seated for a tasting immediately - try that at another winery! A bonus is that in the summer Wente is somehow far cooler than all the other Livermore wineries, with a beautiful breeze blowing all the time. They also have live music events, a jazz festival, and much more. You simply must try Wente, and I say that as a die hard Napa regular who also lived in France for a year. The Livermore vibe is special, friendly and welcoming, and I love it. Oh, and they allow kids, which for me might just be the best part!
