I am currently a student at the Conservatory. I couldn't have asked for a better education thus far- they cherry pick the best of the best for each subject within the program.
From selecting staff to students they have a great system in place. You learn from the ground up everything you need to know and they give you so many options for reviewing and making sure that you understand things that might confuse you. I could go on and on and on but I have to say if you're looking into a career/education in Audio Engineering THIS IS THE PLACE YOU NEEEEEED TO BE!

CRAS is a very intensive engineering program that's complemented by a team of incredibly knowledgeable but sincerely diligent faculty. They teach you EVERYTHING you need to know and more. More than I ever thought I could learn! I would recommend the school to anyone who has an interest in audio engineering or to those who want to gain a comprehensive understanding of music production. Phenomenal instructors who don’t just “know gear.” They have worked in the various industries in pro audio, and they still work in the industry. They teach because they sincerely enjoy seeing others succeed in the field.

The amount of work they’ve put into continuing our (students) growth during the COVID-19 shut down further proves their commitment to the students as well as to the continued growth of the industry.

I just finished the 9-month curriculum at CRAS and I am starting an internship soon. Overall, great experience. I can count the negatives on one hand! And for a 9-month long commitment, that's pretty good.

My reviews tend to be lengthy, so the TL;DR is to definitely attend if you want to get a head start in the world of audio/music while being surrounded by veterans and fellow lovers of audio.

The academic portion of CRAS provides a lot of fundamentals to things that you wouldn't have guessed existed. You'll learn obscure things such as soldering, electrical concepts, wireless concepts, and computer (IT) concepts such as networking. While these may not sound appealing to you, you'll spend a FAR greater amount of time on consoles, learning about EQs and Compression, microphones, running band sessions and recording, and various other activities.

The curriculum may seem long, but it goes fast. You will be doing something new every day. CRAS offers both variety and quality. The program can be intense, and even dry at times, but the same can be said with any school. What other school is full of mixing engineers and artists?

As far as extra curriculars. There are a multitude of certifications you can achieve, some of them requiring a great deal of study to attain, or go for them all if you're feeling brave 🙂
There are also a few "clubs" or "groups" you can attend, or you can make your own if you have a specific interest in audio!

The school is wholly committed to academic excellence and pushes you to go past your limits and achieve success, this coupled with personable and experienced instructors is what separates CRAS from a normal soulless educational institution! Every day you will be met with friendly faces and competent instructors who have lived your passion and are ready to help you in achieving it.

You can stick to bedroom producing and learn a lot from YouTube, but I wouldn't recommend it, not while a place like this exists. If you're reading this you may be hesitant in enrolling, I would encourage you to take the leap of faith. Many of us moved from out of state to come here. If you want to become a great engineer, CRAS is the place to start.
