Easy hiking with beautiful views and some really cool rocks. Lots of folks camping out on a Saturday. Lots of people camping and rock climbing, even with kids.

It is a great place to take the family for some Bouldering, our kids loved it. Not pet friendly, Don't take them out there, pets aren't allowed

They have hiking trails, rock climbing, and a playground with a picnic area. There's camping, too, but we only went for the day.

Apparently, it's the number one rock climbing destination worldwide, because there are so many climbable formations close together.

The hike is very doable, even for kids and novices. Our kids had a blast at the play area. I wish there were more picnic tables or seating in the shade, but we definitely made do.

Will certainly go back again!

Went there today for the first time, and will DEFINITELY go back!! So many little trails around rocks & through rocks - way too many places to go to explore in just one day! And you can be as safe or as adventerous/risky as you'd like.

And the owner was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. Great place for a hike, and ends with a gorgeous view!!

I was initially skeptical seeing the high praise this place receives online, but after visiting I am completely on board. Whether climbing or day hiking, the beautiful scenery and striking lines make for a great day of scrambling around among the rocks.

The climbing: Some of the best sandstone sloper bouldering I've climbed on. Classics like centipede and millipede are prime examples of the more slopey style, while beautiful lines like Mortal Combat and Hammerhead give a great variety to the area. Definitely plan in a rest day, as the textured rock grips great but you pay the price in some skin. The guidebook for the area is not always in stock at the store so buy ahead of time if you don't want to rent.

The campsites: Clean and well maintained. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit, with ample parking and plenty of flat ground for tents. nearby playground with playset and swings, and animal pens nearby to go see. The area is well lit at night with permanent lights on all camp buildings including the bathrooms. Overnight camping is $22/person/night but discounted rates are offered for longer trips or big groups.

The bathrooms: Some of the cleanest campground restrooms you can find. All indoors with lights and hot water showers. Always stocked with toilet paper, soap, and feminine products.

The staff: Amazing people. Owned and operated by the Shultz family. If you have a couple hours to spare and see Mr Schultz driving by in his truck be sure to wave him down and let him regale you with stories about his travels and how bouldering came to HP40. His daughter runs the shop and is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. His youngest son can often be seen around on his ATV, be sure to ask about the local skunk population.

The store: Well stocked with all the camping essentials. Firewood for $10/bundle, fire starters, nonperishables, and treats like candy and marshmallows. Guidebooks, climbing shoes, and crash pads are all available for daily rent at reasonable prices.

Overall a fantastic first time here, made the 11 hour drive from DFW worth it.

Cool Place! There are no frills to the store/gift shop but the rock formations are cool! Imagine if Rock City in Chattanooga had never been developed... just lots of cool rock formations in the woods. Great spot for a walk! A beautiful lookout point as well.

Beautiful and very unique place. The family that owns it are some of the kindest people you'll meet.
