Very cool older building located just off the gourmet ghetto section of berkeley. Lots of windows and natural light, was a great venue for my daughter's wedding. Nice stage with a lot of wood in the building, including hardwood floors.

Beautiful space and great manager, easy to work with and all around great experience renting this venue for our wedding. There's a kitchen, a stage, a couple of green rooms and nice restrooms. The lighting is beautiful any time of day, and there are tables available with rental. There are other amenities available to rent like the PA system, projector screen, spotlighting, a piano and more. The manager, Araceli, is responsive and flexible, and is a kind and fun person to help with anything needed.
Street parking was easy on a Saturday afternoon, no limits on weekends. About a mile from BART and easy to find, near grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and shops. Blocks from some of Berkeley's best food spots!

Our youth choir, Kairos, produces a musical theater/opera performance every season. This year, our usual venue was closed for renovation and we were faced with the need to find a new theater. We knew about the Berkeley Hillside's affinity for classical music, so we thought our program would be a good match. The Hillside Club's manager Araceli was very responsive and informative about their availability, requirements and willingness to accommodate us. Not only did Araceli understand our needs but she was extremely supportive and volunteered to help us with anything we might need in order to offer a highly successful and professional production.

We recommend this venue, not only for the amazing architecture and splendid acoustics, but also for the great communication of our hosts; their openness and their flexibility to accommodate our very specific needs. The venue has a beautiful stage, with ample backstage (a green room upstairs and one downstairs - with access to a bathroom) and it is great for small productions such as ours, or small chamber music concerts that they host often. If you do visit the Berkeley Hillside, be sure to make the acquaintance of Bella - the Boston Terrier of the club whom we adopted as our mascot. She is a real drama queen and will definitely brighten your day

This was my first visit to the Hillside Club. I never knew this place existed. I went with a friend to hear a clarinet ensemble play and was pleasantly surprised. It's a great room for this type of activity and the people attending we're quite friendly. Apparently the space is available for rent for parties and such and I would certainly give it a consideration if you had an event to organize in North Berkeley.

Nice venue with interesting programming. Street parking usually available not too far away. Decent sight lines, but elevated stage means acoustics are only OK. Good for public meetings, less successful for music, but definitely worth going if you like the music.
