I have never been to one of their formal concerts, but I recently went to see them for their Symphony in the Park event at Railroad park. I was blown away! Their skill, execution, song choice diversity, and the composition skill of the musicians is astounding. Chris Lowry’s “Calm After” was played just as the sun was setting and there was a beautiful blue gradient in the sky. It created such a magical experience. At one point, the sound equipment malfunctioned and created a loud humming noise over their rendition of “Smoke on the Water”. The conductor swiftly prompted the orchestra to restart the song and it felt so professional. This experience makes me want to seek out more ASO concerts and support them more! Alabama is so lucky, thank you for all you do to contribute to the culture here in Birmingham!

I can’t count how many times I’ve seen/ heard the ASO perform. Each concert they give is simply sublime, whether you’re listening to their stellar interpretations of classics in the Alys Stephens concert hall (i.e. Mozart, Beethoven, etc.), catching one of their pops performances at Railroad Park or a local brewery, or watching them perform the soundtrack during the screening of classic films (i.e. The Harry Potter films, Psycho, or Star Wars), you’re guaranteed a worthwhile, enriching event of musical magnificence.

The first man came out office was in a meeting but the 2 ladies one name kimberly were finace dept and mr Williams very nice gave me at end free symphony orchestra ticket. I was asking was any string players there for my new violin I will learn to play hopefully. Luckily the music repair shop in himewoid helped me temporarily at least to tune it and had my high school band teacher's number. That was well worth it so unexpected for that too! He always wanted me to learn to play violin. But my purpose was solved. I got the violin on wrong chin. I didnt know. I thought when it read 4x4 fullsized right handed that meant the bow. Makes sense for dummy me my dominate right hand with except my left hand has the damaged middle finger from several handcuffs injuries. I probably can press better than lift up and down. I pray it helps in exercise. I could hear the notes. He said could make it better by changes that would be charges. I will learn. It is like he Said unexspensive.

I absolutely love the ASO. They have phenomenal guest performers at their POP series. My child loves the symphony and it is a joy we can bring her to these concerts. Venues are great, performances are wonderful, and choices of music are outstanding. Thanks ASO for all your hard work!

The Alabama Symphony continues to provide Alabama with a top-notch, professional and expressive body of musicians under the incredible leadership of Carlos Izcaray. We are so lucky to have this group enriching our artistic culture in central Alabama. If you haven't been out to see them yet, you are seriously missing out. Talented soloists all, incredible guest artists, and a wonderful volunteer choir make for a formidable entity that needs our continued support. Student tickets have been and hopefully always will be just $10!

The music of Handel’s Messiah was tainted by the man with the five o’clock shadow and lipstick and women’s uniform. Even Christian works must be “woke” these days. I won’t come back.

We have subscribed to the ASO Super Pops concerts for several years. We have enjoyed every performance we have attended. The most recent one was on February 29, 2020 when the orchestra paid tribute to Nat King Cole. The guest performer, Denzal Sinclaire was OUTSTANDING! Hearing him sing "Mona Lisa" was in itself worth the cost of a ticket.
