Just spent an afternoon with Jim Pavett at Allusion Studios today and I have a few words for him: Professional, organized, helpful and impressive. The studio is comfortable and Jim was able to alleviate our nerves, as we were 3 amateurs assisting our friend with an audiobook recording of her recent book. Not our day jobs, to say the least. Jim managed to get us to provide something intelligible, and hopefully
interesting. Nice to see someone doing their job so well.

Allusion Studios is simply the best recording studio in AZ. Jim Pavett is a master at his craft. He is an efficient, creative and professional sound engineer with some of the best ears around. The facility is top notch, clean comfortable and equipped with the best gear. From start to finish, the album recording process there was the best I've had in decades of playing music. Highly recommend this place for any recording project.

Allusion studios has everything you would expect from a professional studio. My band had an opportunity to record here with Jim. He has top of the line, industry standard equipment, and is super helpful and makes sure you get the best of your time in the studio. He takes a very efficient process to recording, and is completely flexible to the needs and expectations of all musicians. We had a blast and got some truly great tracks while working down at Allusion. I would highly recommend this studio to anyone. Best studio in Tucson, you will not be dissapointed.

While recording guitars, vocals, and drums for an album at Allusion, Jim Pavett was a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with through those hours of tracking and editing. His facility boasts top notch gear but he himself will tell you it's not about the gear that makes great music - it's the musicians. Allusion gives the musician the shortest path to getting the best version of him/herself recorded. He is also a funny and personable gentleman with a fine musical ear. Those occasions when I asked his considered opinion on non-technical topics, such as composition and performance, Jim gave valuable and helpful feedback. Allusion's support was priceless to have on my side during the recording process. I hope I'll be working with Jim and his team again very soon.

First off, let me state my bias. I've worked with Jim Pavett and Allusion Studios since 1996 and have recorded 7 CDs there. I've been so pleased with my experience there that I haven't checked out the other available facilities in town. There's been no need to. Jim is a Grammy award winning recording engineer who is able to capture the optimal true sound of every instrument recorded. The equipment is first rate and his knowledge and mastery of them is top notch. He is constantly upgrading the studio and stays well versed in the current recording practices. The studio itself is a former office building which Jim has painstakingly converted into a recording studio. There are isolation rooms for vocals, guitars and bass which compliment a larger live room in which drums and piano can be recorded. But the real allure of working at Allusion is Jim himself. An accomplished musician in his own right, Jim is able to offer ideas on how every instrument should sound and, to a degree, what they should play. His quick ear for melody and harmony allow him to guide the artist in recreating those spontaneous, improvised melodies until they are both technically sound as well as creatively satisfying. In summary, the recording experience at Allusion is a complete experience that leaves the client satisfied and eager to record the next project there. I know I am.

I am a voice over artist and originally went to Allusion Studios to master my demo. I was impressed with the studio and Jim Pavett at that time, but recently I recorded a children's audio and what an excellent experience. Jim's studio is state of the art and Jim is at the top of his game as a musician and sound engineer. His talent, ability and intuition is spot on. He didn't just record my story he contributed to it and as his web site says you can "Hear the difference" I have hard copy cd's of the story and it is now available for digital down load and everyone who has heard it and I mean everyone has been struck by the quality of the sound. If you have any project audio or video that you really care about, don't mess around go to Jim at Allusion studio your result will be better than you even thought it could be.
