John and the guys at Bob Reeves are the best in the business. They are my ideal stop for new mouthpieces, mouthpiece alterations, trumpet alignments, and new cases/mutes/instruments.

I cannot think of another shop that does as many things as Bob Reeves does, at this high a level of service AND provide you with such high quality coffee!

Brett and crew re-shanked a cornet mouthpiece for me to get rid of stuffiness. In addition to the mouthpiece to modify, I sent them a mouthpiece that plays well so they could compare the shank diameters and taper to optimize the mouthpiece to the receiver. Their workmanship is the best. You can't tell my mouthpiece was re-shanked. But when I received it back after the re-shank, it played with a clearer and more authentic cornet tone. Gap does matter. The Reeves company are the experts. Assuming you have good fundamentals for embouchure and technique, it is worth it to have a mouthpiece and receiver analyzed to determine the proper gap so a player can play their best. I am 3,000 miles away in Rhode Island. I listen to the Bob Reeves trumpet podcasts over the years and I was personally going through those mouthpiece issues that some trumpet players go through. A couple of years ago I called Bob Reeves Brass, I spoke on the phone with John Snell and told him my long journey of getting a better tone. Over 50 years of playing the journey is Bach 7C, 3C, 2/3/4C, 3C Wick, Bach 11/2C - John suggested the Bach 1. Every time I went bigger my tone and embouchure felt fine and even better. I finally did settle on a Schlike 24. I never imagined I was "that guy/player".
Recently here in 2025, I asked Reeves if I can try to see if there are any other options for me. I bought a 43.5C that didn't work out. I sent it back and I am now awaiting some new adjustments. The workers ( John, Brett, and others) at Bob Reeves are an invaluable help in my journey and their mouthpieces are well-crafted. It looks like I will be playing on Reeves equipment in the future. I am very satisfied with BobReeves Brass!

Mr. John Snell and his team are all professional and friendly. I just brought my daughter's trumpet for a Reeves alignment yesterday. They measured the trumpet in 5 minutes. Then they told me that the valves were almost perfectly aligned and did not need any corrections. The measurement was free. What an honest business!!! I had to drive 6 hours from San Francisco Bay Area to Valencia and another 6 hours to go back home, but it was all worthwhile. The trumpet became even more special to my daughter after the consultation. Thank you so much.

I am very new to Bob Reeves mouthpieces coming from other brands and makers and all I can say is almost everything has improved in the feel and sound of my playing. I am a trumpet player and yes, we often do the whole "new mouthpiece safari" to think I can magically things about my playing. With trying Bob Reeves, I found that I came by benefits without trying to find any magical solution and simply giving them a try.

The rim is much more comfortable and doesn't give me permission to press too hard. The pieces are really well made and I love the removable rims and I prefer using the sleeves for gap adjustments.

Over the last 2 months I have gotten way more musicians and especially trombone players in front of me in a big band turn around and give me a thumbs up saying I have never sounded better. I feel like my sound is much more clear and I am looking forward to a lot more music in 2024 using Bob Reeves mouthpieces!

October 12, was my Birthday and so I saw that Bob Reeves was doing a Boston valve alignment and mouthpiece 2 day consultation workshop at Virtuosity musical instrument store. I got to work with John Snell, who set me up with and efficient yet not too tight commercial mpc (42ES-19). Played on it 2 days later on an ELVIS PRESLEY tribute band gig, on my Yamaha Eric Miyashiro Bb model Trumpet, and it sounded and felt fantastic!! Thanks again John and thank you to Virtuosity instrument music store in Boston for hosting this event!! John is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to mouth pieces, and I highly recommend Bob Reeves customer service!! 🎺😎❤️🎼
