A very relaxed atmosphere, excellent vintage and modern instruments and studio gear, and a real engineer/producer with decades of experience. This combination makes for a top-notch recording environment. JP has the tools and he knows how to use them. More importantly, he is an artist himself. He listens. JP was able to provide me feedback during my recording project that definitely took it to another level that I wouldn’t have been able to achieve on my own. Highly recommended.

I love this studio! I have been going to Castaway for recording for quite a few years. JP is always improving his set up and equipment to obtain the most realistic representation of the musicians he tracks. After tracking I really don’t have to make a whole lot of tweaks because he captures the instruments charachter so perfectly the first time. Very relaxed professional feeling while working there. The end products speak for themselves. You can hear the recordings I did there on most streaming services under Brion Shearer.

I have recorded with JP many times throughout the last 10+ years and am glad to call him a friend. He is a consummate professional and treats every project with the utmost care and respect. He makes artists feel welcomed and understands what they are trying to achieve. His gear list is constantly growing, and he never stops improving his sound. I recorded my last full length album at this studio. You can look me up on the streaming services to find it and see how you like the sound of what we created! It is under my artist name, Beau James Wilding. Jp is a very friendly, straight up dude. He was very supportive of my creative process and helped to offer suggestions for production. I came away with the work that I am most proud of today in my career, and also had a good time in the process. I plan to work with Jp again on future projects. He was a great collaborator and very knowledgeable about a wide array of equipment. We also had some fun and deep chats after sessions while I was waiting for my rides.
