This incredibly well preserved historic hotel is on a beautiful waterfront lot with gorgeous views of the inlet. Historic tours of the premise are also available. There are several picnic tables as well making this a perfect place to bring a lunch and enjoy an exceptionally beautiful coastal setting.

Excellent two story 5,000 square foot former hotel + home that documents the history of the area very well! So many interesting stories and characters as well as tragedy in the history of this incredible building! I really like how they accurately staged everything and documented the history with incredible detail! If I had one complaint, it would be that the sign leading to the museum is not obvious at all so we missed it and had to call for guidance. The private property sign is a little intimidating as well and made me second guess.

Besides these small things, I loved this museum! For $5 admission, you get so much information and detail and I’m looking forward to the lighthouse association restoring more historic buildings!

Built in the 1880s, this hotel is one of Volusia County’s oldest surviving structures, offering a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved rooms and grounds. Originally a boarding house and fishing resort, the hotel has been restored to showcase its history. The house was abandoned and overgrown for years and was often referred to as the Gamble house. The house is an example of Florida Cracker architecture is a vernacular style that originated in the 1800s. It's characterized by simple, practical designs that respond to the state's humid, subtropical climate. Some common features include:
Raised floors: To promote airflow and reduce the risk of flooding
Central hallways: To allow for greater airflow
Front porches: Usually covered to provide shade from the sun
Cypress wood: A natural bug repellant
Steeper gabled roofs: Often 6/12 to 8/12
Rectangular "box" shape: With dimensions such as 30 feet wide by 36 or 40 feet in length, or 36 wide by 48 foot long

Beautifully restored! So grateful for another piece of history being preserved in our area. We enjoyed our time exploring the old hotel and learning about its life and the lives of those who occupied it over the years.

Went there today. Wow. More than I imagined. Just opened up Labor Day 2024. They did an excellent fixing up of the place. Lots of history plus you can access most of the building. There is a ten minute movie in the beginning. Only costs five dollars but if you are a member of the lighthouse, it is free.

For $5 you can't go wrong. Very nicely restored and lots of interesting history. We've spent a lot of time at the sandbar across the river and had no idea what this building was.
Spoiler alert.........Johnny Bench was here in the '70's but I won't tell you why.

This a great spot to learn about some of the history of Ponce Inlet. The views of the river are great. This is well worth stopping by if you are in the area and a great addition to a visit to the lighthouse.

The building has been beautifully restored, the grounds & setting are stunning. The Ponce lighthouse is right next store & entrance to museum includes the lighthouse. All that makes it worth a trip, but on top of that is the museum's incredible history & it's past inhabitants. The stories are told with wonderful displays throughout the museum. Top notch!!
