I was music teacher at a Christian school where Mr. Fairer came to tune a Yamaha grand last year in Mar 2018. He charged a WILDLY HIGH tuning FEE, tho he never tuned it — just did a set of “TEST.” He told the principal/pastor to give the beautiful black 5’7” YAMAHA GRAND piano to a THIFT store (but to CALL him first and he would find them a new one— wondered if that was so he could cart off this good one!!)
I WAS ENRAGED — I CONTACTED college music faculty from local college about the crazy test that he was using to DISCREDIT THE PIANOS QUALITY and the college faculty said they knew him and the test was a fraud!! That you cannot test piano by that test— Their exact words.
I called Mr. Faire to reimburse the small school the fee (he hung up the phone on me when I nicely asked) so I texted him that I would not post this review if he gave sch their refund. No refund or call was ever made back to the school! I tried to allow him time to work with the school. ... a whole year! There is only one positive review on his google.
As a teacher myself I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE MUSIC STUDENTS ROBBED - it cost too much as it is to get lessons, therefore I feel this man should be known for his fraud ways of tuning and trying to get rid of great pianos for new ones!
Another tuner came in and was HORRIFIED at Mr. Faire’s FAKE report!!!! The piano is now tuned by a new tuner and it plays beautifully!!! Don’t hire Mr. Faire to tune ... you may loose a nice YAMAHA GRAND piano as my sch would have if I, as music faculty would not have found out in time to blow the whistle. I have a Masters DEGREE in MUSIC. I was not the client but the teacher at the academy that was trying to hold Faire resonsible! The piano was not stored outside, and was NOT purchased for several hundred but several thousand. The “lifetime of a grand piano!” and the test he ran were false according to the faculty and the other tuner,. The faculty that said he as fraud was from a well known college - known for its excellent music program. Contact me if you have doubt of this review. I will give you principal/pastors number to verify.
