Wow! So, I've been an avid, almost compulsive, music lover for years. Lately, I've been trying to get out and see live music more. When I saw Dusk Fest was happening in Tucson, I decided to look up the acts to see if anything sparked an interest (Electronica was never a go to for me, so this was all new).

As I went through the acts (and any supporting video on youtube), I came up with a list of who I wanted to see. Initially, my goal was to attend both nights. However, plans changed (and honestly I wasn't confident in my ability to SURVIVE 2 nights of skull thumping music plus dancing which I fully intended on doing), and I elected to attend Saturday only.

I took a lyft that dropped me right off near the entrance downtown (thanks Vanessa!). After getting my wrist band, I explored many of the wonderfully creative vendors who were selling their mostly handmade wares. I narrowed my interest to the official Dusk Fest booth for a couple show t- shirts, and another booth by Color Queen Art for a cool irreverent tie dye shirt.

Three stages were set up for the various acts: Alameda, Presidio, and Discovery. Most of the acts I wanted to catch were at the Presidio stage.

I spent a lot of time pre- and between-shows taking pics of all the wonderful art, sculptures, and awesome people who were attending the Festival. I'm not fluent on dub and Electronica, but there's obviously a following who (ladies) dress up in really (really) risqué outfits, as well as many other costumes and adornment. People went all out dressing up, and that got me very excited about the authentic experience I was about to partake.

The first act I took in was Kid Electro, followed by Masteria, Kelsy Karter and the Heroines, Gem and Tauri, Small Pools, and Ray Volpe. I couldn't last till the last act Barely Alive. In between sets at Presidio, I caught some of Bad Sons.

I was really really looking forward to Gem and Tauri, and those girls did not disappoint! Their music blends that great bass and build up lines with sultry, trancy, almost new age vocals. The crowd was large and vibing all together! What a wonderful show!

If you are even on the fence on this genre of music, you owe it to yourself to attend the next Dusk Fest in Tucson. The vibe is awesome, fun loving beautiful people, and you'll dance your booty off! I may be sore for a few days!

Oh, one more note. When you get your wristband, you will be required to link your payment method with your wristband (as vendors aren't supposed to take payments the usual way). I had a bit of difficulty doing this at first, but eventually figured it out.
