This review is for their production of The Nutcracker only. I always have lots of grace for the dancers when they’re mostly local students. I want to support the arts. However, even the very pretty sets lacked in the big moments of this production. I understand that this is a smaller stage, but the storytelling was kind of chaotic, inconsistent, and just overall very poorly done… even Drosselmeyer had no real presence and was more of a friendly, mediocre grandpa than a mysterious toy maker magician. Many of the soloists were talented and I applaud them, but this was not worth the $55+ I paid (and that was for the very last row). Very little magic at all. The audience was also very distracting… eating from loud wrappers, filming and taking photos throughout (and I didn’t notice any policies in place to try to prevent that - if there were, I might have given 3 stars instead of 2).
