The Gallo Center is the best place to see a play or concert in Modesto. I was surprised a small town had such a wonderful place to see events. Parking is on the street or there is a lot about a half block away.

The place itself is really pretty and it is kept clean and looks newer than it is. The seating is comfortable. Prices depend on what you are interested in seeing. You do need to get tickets in advance.

Most of the seats have a good view. Obviously, the further you go back, the view fades. Try to get in the first 15 rows. The theater is not huge but it does seat about 1,200 people. This is for the main theater. There is another smaller theater called the Foster Family Theater that seats less than 500. I have never been to it.

The staff is very nice and will help you find your seats if you need and with any questions you may have.

It is really a nice theater.

I hate to write this, but I've had a very frustrating experience as a customer trying to simply attend a concert. I bought 2 tickets to an upcoming show and received an email from the venue the next day saying my purchase had been "flagged as a potential third-party ticket reseller." It said if I didn't call their office in less than 24 hours, my purchase would be canceled, and my account would be closed.

I called and was told my purchase was flagged because I live out of state. I explained I'd be traveling for the show, as it was the closest performance to where I live. They said they wouldn't cancel my order, but they also wouldn't send me my tickets. I'd have to pick them up at the box office on the day of the show, still showcasing a lack of trust in my intentions.

Fast-forward, and work gets in the way of my ability to travel for the show. I call and ask if there's any way the tickets can be resold at face value or for anything less. They're great seats and I'd hate for them to go to waste. They say no.

While I understand (and genuinely appreciate) their efforts to protect against ticket pirating, treating an innocent customer who wants 2 tickets to a show and has done nothing wrong like a criminal is not the answer. I don't appreciate the way I've been spoken down to nor the fact that I don't have the same opportunity to get half the price of my tickets back that other customers do simply because I don't live locally.

I hope they can find a more reliable system that helps thwart resellers with bad intentions without making customers feel guilty for buying tickets for their family. I would appreciate not being treated as a presumed criminal from the start.

I've been there twice with my Dad and I had a Fantastic Time. My first experience was to watch a Magician, Fantastic. The 2nd was to see a comedian, had more than a few laughs. The Gallo is an excellent spot with more than helpful personnel and a clean Environment.

An endless list of Legacy Donors and Presidential Circle members couldn’t raise enough money for a better designed theater?
Why are the light and sound technicians booths located at the center of the theater blocking/interfering with the viewing experience of countless attendees. Very disappointing. Not a lot to be said about their sound system either.
The theater was clean though, that was something

Modesto is very lucky to have this venue. We were seated in the last row of the orchestra (row X) in the wheelchair spaces and the view was great. I didn't go in the balcony but I doubt there is a bad seat in this theater. Ushers were quick to ask people to not use their phones. Everything was great.

Saw the symphony and was absolutely spectacular!! Great to know that Modesto is well rounded and has appreciation for the Arts. Impressive. Had balcony seating and the acoustics were phenomenal!! The views up there were captivating. Yes, you do have to pay extra to purchase an enclosed sipping cup for one to enjoy alcohol during the show, but totally worth it to support the Arts and to prevent from spilling drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Staggered seating throughout the theater. Clean restrooms as well as inside and out or the theater. The building’s architecture is quite grand and elegant. Tons of eateries & bars to try before the show that is in walking distance. Great location and will continue to watch shows here instead. ❤️

Wonderful center for the performing arts. A gem for the Modesto Area and many great acts from near and far perform here. The crosswalks are cute and musically themed too. The Gallo Center welcomes local kids and youth for shows and school trips, and also performing opportunities for theater, youth symphony, summer programs etc

Nice place. Good seating. The only thing I could think negative was there were no coat hangers in the men’s stalls in the bathroom.
