I tried to remember the waitress' name, I believe it was Janelle (cute fur earrings)? She was so on it! The chips were set down within a minute of sitting, drinks came fast, appetizer down before we even had a few sips, and then food down before we finished the appetizer! Everything was great. So glad we came there. Drinks were good, food was hot, everything had great flavor.

We’re still on the hunt for the best Mexican food in Alaska… because it can be hard to come by, but Garcia’s did great today! We went in for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn’t too busy. The server was attentive and kept our table stocked with warm chips and salsa (2 baskets worth) throughout waiting and our meal. Thats one criteria for a good Mexican place… free chips and salsa .

The food was pretty good! Nothing to freak out about, but it was flavorful and yummy. Just what we expected. Plus they have a cheaper lunch menu that we ordered off of and were full and satisfied. My big Chimi platter was only $15 which is a good deal I’d say. Overall great experience.

I don’t head out of Anchorage much but this place was a great find in Eagle River! Very good food and excellent service. We got free chips and salsa, a free refill on our horchata, and constant check-ins from our waitress. I got the carne asada tacos with beans and rice while my partner got the carne asada chimichanga with beans and rice. We also got the Sampler Appetizer which is a MUST. Please check these guys out as they also have live music!

Mini chimis are a staple and good overall. A safe bet is to go with the fajitas. As far as Mexican food goes, coming from a person who lived very close to the Mexican border, the Mexican food here isn’t comparable. I’d say overall is a 5 out of 10 for the Mexican food specifically.
However, they make up for it with their fun atmosphere! They normally have bands play, and everyone is having fun and some people even get up and dance!

There’s homemade tequila is fantastic! however, for a single shot is extremely expensive, sadly!
However, on the same token, the house margarita comes in a tall glass and isn’t the best. However, if you do some drink menu exploring and ask for a large bowl glass they will give it to you. We have been here over a dozen times, and in general, our service has always been good.

With all these factors considered, I would give this place a four out of five for a Mexican place in Alaska because of what I have mentioned so far, and I have to be realistic,
this is pretty much as far away from the southern border as I can get ?

So bring your friends, enjoy the music, get up out of your chair, and have fun dancing the night away!

We have recently moved to Alaska from the Southwestern US area. So we were accustomed to Latin and TexMex cuisine, and figured to give place a shot. And, man!, did they do it well! Much better than some places in the SW we have been to. I don't recall what we had specifically, but it was a platter of various items that are served there. The service staff were very courteous and patient while we chose from the menu with a very large selection. Price point was good for our family of 4.
Yes! - we enjoyed our visit and meals!
Yes! - we will be returning!
Yes! - you should experience this gem of a restaurant!

I had an incredible dining experience at Garcia! The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic Mexican flavors. The salsa was especially amazing—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect kick to start the meal. If you're looking for a place with amazing food, delicious salsa, and great service, Garcia is a must-visit!

Went with my family last night (4 of us) to get some dinner. Main reason I chose Garcias was so I could watch the Sunday night game while I ate as Garcias has more TVs than the other Mexican restaurants in ER.

We come in and I tell the hostess we have 4 and would like a table where we could watch the game. She gave us a weird look and mentioned bar seating area. I would have been fine with a table in the bar area but all they had was a rail, not somewhere I’m looking to sit with the family.

What they did have available were two 6 person tables right in front of the projector. When I asked if we could sit there I was told those were for larger parties. There were FOUR 6 person tables not being used, and I didn’t even look in the back half of the restaurant. I finally convinced the hostess to let us sit in one of the 6 person tables in the restaurant area where we at least had an angled view of the game.

Why?!? Why would you not take care of your guests for such a simple request? I could understand if it was busy and the last table for a large party, but it wasn’t. Does this generation not understand customer service? Do they not understand I don’t have to eat there… Don’t have to tip? Do better, cuz tbh the quality of food and cocktails didn’t make up for it.
