Have you ever wondered what difference a year can make? How about a 1.5 years? I write this just having finished the advanced music production program and I can honestly say I am an entirely different creative and in such a short time, 1.5 years can make a huge difference. Best decision I have made for my future in music. Here are just a few of the many things that ICON does really well to help many creatives transform and grow.

I am blown away at the results that have come from the process at Icon, and I can see how well thought out and executed the entire operation is there. Icon encouraged and guided me to grow in so many ways that I wouldn’t have thought to try on my own. First and foremost music production yes, but also mastering, mixing, to singing, songwriting, sound design, analog gear/synths, sound engineering, film scoring, creative mindset, business and much more. With many talented instructors you are sure to find the ones that match your personality and music tastes and can pick their brains during office hours to see how the journey has unfolded for people who work in the industry.

Icon made clear all the things I didn't know I didn't know. I could tell that the curriculum was designed with such attention to detail as the classes line up in order that each one builds to more dense topics. I appreciated the weekly office hours for catchup or further exploration on a topic if you are so inclined.

There is also a vast community there and I have met and connected with so many talented creatives new and veteran. There is a great support system there for whatever interests you have. I am thankful in particular to Femme Frequency which was a club for us women to connect and support one another. Open doors is there also to help with advice, struggles or just to listen to concerns. I found myself there every quarter and am grateful for those working in student services for giving extra time and attention when we student’s needed help. Also ICON has the best mentors! Every quarter you get a one on one mentor that helps guide you along. This was also one of my favorite parts getting to ask a ton of questions and getting one on one feedback was super helpful. I was lucky and had mentors who really struck the right balance between encouragement as well as challenging me to strive to be better. This took place in the top notch studios with professional equipment which I was able to get very familiar with.

It’s not a problem if you don’t know anyone in the industry, there are tons of possibilities to network and opportunities can come up around any corner if you stay open and alert to them. If you play your cards right you can even leave Icon with some opportunities for employment. I’ve seen it happen! It just depends on what your goals and focuses are. Realistically you won’t get this caliber of information/opportunity on your own and definitely not at the same speed being at Icon.

Last but not least being surrounded by other hard working creatives really motived me to work harder and try my best. Not only that but you learn about different music styles, techniques and genres alien to you because everyone comes from different backgrounds and interests, and you will collaborate with many students while there. Its quite a melting pot there of creatives and as a result my music tastes really grew for the better, and in turn I became a more well rounded musician 🙂 . The guys in charge there are very passionate about the growth and well being of the students. It is truly a place in its own league. What effort and focus you put in you will get out in great measure. The best metaphor I can think of is its just like a garden, the effort, time, and care you invest in it directly influences the quality and abundance of the harvest aka your improvement in artistry and skills. If you diligently water, fertilize, and tend to your plants, you'll reap a bountiful crop. Conversely, if you neglect it, the results will be less rewarding.

So if you’re thinking about attending ICON I say go for it.
It may just change your life!

This really is a special place. It felt much like a second home with the friends/staff there making it feel like a family. The resources are endless and this place along with everyone there really got me to a place in my artist career that I've always wanted to be at. Can't say enough great things about icon its truly special.

I graduated the Advanced Music Production Program in June 2022. I can confidently say there isn't any other place like ICON. Like everyone else, I saw the alumni and was very impressed and honestly fell victim to good marketing. I didn't know what to expect when I got there but I was absolutely blown away and am still extremely impressed and grateful for what ICON is doing. They allow the instructors to speak freely and really inject their personalities and perspective into their lessons. You get pushed pretty far outside your comfort zone and are forced to do things you would never see yourself doing. They really listen to their students and are constantly changing and upgrading the curriculum based on what students are saying. You have access to sooo much equipment and studios. Not to mention all of the staff and peers that are eager to help and listen to what you're working on . The people are some of the coolest and best people I have met. I have a tight group of friends that are all extremely driven, creative and talented that I met here. It is 100% a collective. 95% of the people I met were friendly and down to earth. The campus is always full of people working on music and it is such an inspiring place to be. If you can afford it, ICON is 100% worth it. and PIZZA FRIDAY. Love you guys, thanks for everything. This music school truly gave me the varied skillsets I’ve always been interested in learning like Music Business, The Artist Mindset, Songwriting, Music Theory, Studio Techniques, Ear Training, and Synthesis.
