I cannot say enough good things about my experience with James Hood Guitar.
I brought in my prized over-humidified (user induced -duh!) delaminated damaged Martin – 0018 for repair. The bridge was lifting, the action was jacked, and the bindings were coming off.
James thoroughly explained to me what was going on and what measures he would need to take to repair it.
He gave me a 2- 3 month repair time- frame which I initially thought was a bit long.
But with Jame’s explanation, I accepted and understood his workload and the important fact that repairing a fine crafted instrument cannot be a rushed endeavor.
True to his estimate, I picked up my repaired Martin on time.
To my satisfaction, the guitar is better than new! Functionally and cosmetically the repair was perfect. My Martin plays easy and sounds better than ever!
James has mad skills.... a truly talented craftsman.
Thanks James!
Best,
Steve V.

Needed James to swap out my Tele's pickups, electronics, and saddles. Needed to have back in time for Sunday service. Jim did it in record time. Perfect job, as always! It's so comforting to hand over instruments I love to Jim and his crew, knowing they'll treat them as their own.

I really can’t say enough good things about these guys. After relocating back to Southern California from the UK, I needed to find a reliable and professional guitar repair/setup company and they came highly recommended. They certainly weren’t wrong! I’ve brought several guitars to them for both repair and setups. The prices are very reasonable, the turn around is very quick and their workmanship is impeccable!

This is James Morgan, guitarist and founder of three time nominees for best jazz album of the year by the San Diego Music Awards, Ghost Jazz Trio. James Hood Guitar Repair has been my go-to for guitar and amp repairs, setups and everything I need when it comes to my instruments for 20 years. They have a top notch tech team that is not only knowledgeable, but they also care about each individual's needs based on there genre of music and playing abilities. This affords them the expertise to prescribe and give you the optimum results you're looking for in regards to, tones, and playing abilities of the instrument. You can hear the results for there fine work on my last four albums and on my forthcoming jazz fusion album with Gary Husband on drums and keyboards and Hadrien Feraud on bass. They are a no-brainer if you're looking for a repair shop that cares. James Morgan Ghost Jazz Trio

James set up my les paul for me and did a terrific job. Asked for a fast action on the neck and that's what he gave me. The work was done in a most timely manner as well. Going to bring in my other guitars for similar work too. Knows what he's doing.

Great people to work with. They fixed some messed up wiring on a used PRS electric I bought online and also found a missing screw for a 1930’s Martin acoustic. I definitely recommend them if you need help with your guitar.
