I’ll start by saying I love Lakewood Ranch Music Academy’s instructors and the lessons. My 4 year old boy loves going to drum lessons and has liked his instructor Avalon, as well as some of the substitute instructors that had to fill in. There was a time when we had a substitute instructor and my boy almost cried and had trouble finishing his lesson, but no makeup for that. I heard another parent had that issue, they had to leave during their lesson time. The issue was not the substitute, it’s that the kids were used to having their instructor. I do not love their makeup policy. The only way to makeup a class is to video chat at the time of your lesson. If you can’t video chat for any reason, you miss a class. And there’s possibility of having a sub during your makeup. We’ve been going here for 1 year, and there were only two instances that I would’ve tried to makeup. The first was when my son had a fever and was taking a nap, and he never takes naps so he needed the rest. I wasn’t able to come in. Another time we were driving home from the hospital after a family emergency that involved my son. And after being in the hospital for two days we just wanted to be home, again my son fell asleep in the car. So no makeup there. I have texted the owner about those situations but she didn’t offer any alternatives.
We want to go on a family vacation in August as do many families, but they don’t have a pause as other establishments have. You have 2 options, video chat for 1 month of lessons at the same day and time of your original lesson or cancel. If you want to cancel, you lose your spot and have to re-enroll and pay re-enrollment fees. Just the policy alone makes me want to leave but the only reason we stay is for Avalon and the progress he’s made with her.

There us so much I can say about LRMA! My daughter started piano lessons with them at the age of 3. We picked up on her love for piano early on and reached out. They ordered a program specifically for her age that has helped her learn so much! Avalon, her teacher, is basically a saint. She rolls with the emotions of our 3 year old and is so great at getting our peanut back on task and learning! She is now 4 and is still loving taking lessons! Highly recommend!

So my daughter, Leah, was a piano student of Whitney’s and I can not say enough great things about her! Leah was so shy at first and Whitney was able to get her out of her shell almost immediately! The environment there is built around teaching your child about music and having fun while doing so. Leah was so excited after each lesson that she would come home and try and teach me how to play, lol. It was very cute!! I give LRMA my highest recommendation and I believe that if you do choose them to teach your child, you will be extremely happy that you did.

Our daughter has taken piano for over three years at Lakewood Ranch music academy. We have loved every instructor we have had, especially Avalon her most recent teacher. She is so positive and encouraging and has an energy that shines to the kids! Our daughter has progressed so much in her piano skills and the bi-yearly shows they host has given her confidence on stage and performing in front of others!

LRMA is a great little gem for piano lessons. my three year old who is incapable of sitting still, absolutely adores his piano lessons with Carson. Carson is incredibly gentle and patient. He uses a variety of methods to ensure foundations are learned in an enjoyable manner for a young child. I was nervous that my son would hate going for his piano lessons but he asks to go and will ask about his piano lessons daily. I highly recommend LRMA.

Lakewood Ranch Music Academy is such a gift to our town! There are very few opportunities here for professional, private lessons and even those that do exist are too far away to even consider. Whitney wowed me with her professionalism, wide range of instrument and vocal options and pristine learning spaces. But what I loved most was the way she structures the lessons to include important basics, fun and challenging practice pieces, music theory insight and clear and constructive feedback on the spot. I have been both a student and instructor at LRMA and I can say from both perspectives how deeply I value the way they are infusing excellence and creativity into our community!

My daughter, Mia, has been part of the Lakewood Ranch Music Academy for the past 3 years. Mia has had lessons in both piano and voice from Whitney and Lily. Both instructors were phenomenal and I couldn’t be happier with the way Mia has grown in confidence and skill over the past 3 years. If you are looking for music lessons LRMA is the place to be.
