Fantastic place. I absolutely love the venue. The band was incredible and I would love to come there more often. Downside (1) I know everyone has an off night but my wife ordered a Midori Sour which was $18 and it was horrible. She requested to replace it with a Mai Tai. It took forever to come and when it did, neither of us could figure out what that drink was. It definitely was not a Mai Tai. I couldn't even identify the liquor it was made with. She finally just ordered a ginger ale.
Downside (2)
The valet was full even though we arrived an hour before the club opened. And being in North Park where there's probably a billion apartments, there was no parking literally for blocks. I dropped my wife off and parked six blocks away and walked. We ubered back to our car at the end of the evening.
Not a good feel since we drove all the way from Escondido to enjoy some music. So that's it in a nutshell. It's a fantastic venue if you live in the area and can just walk a few blocks to get there. Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest it unless you Uber both ways.

One of the coolest venues in town. The attention to detail is stunning. I have to hand it to Consortium and the Lafayette. It’s impressive. The sound is great. The drinks are pricier, but they are good. Plus you’re supporting what seems to be a very well curated mixture of free and ticketed musical acts that are playing the clam shell shaped stage. Haven’t had dinner here yet. The matchbooks in the bathroom were a nice touch. Definitely worth grabbing a drink and seeing a concert. If it’s a weekend, show up early.

EDIT: after a few disappointments with sold out shows, the place can get rude and overcrowded.

Arrived for the 7 pm session played by the Victor Baker jazz quintet. The room is half full at that time, so SEATING close to the stage was excellent.
Be prepared to be wowed by the DECOR. The Lafayette Hotel was opened in 1946. But LOU LOU’s CLUB has an Art Deco look with zebra print carpeting, shell design chairs and feather design wall sconces. The STAGE is an impressive gold lit scallop shell this is the perfect backdrop for a jazz band.
The SOUND system is perfect for listening and intimate conversations.
The wait staff is quick to arrive at your table to take DRINK orders. I had a fantastic Negroni with a twist: subtle chai flavor added to the gin. Order a Negroni if you like Campari, a grapefruit tasting liquor, not sweet.
The band takes a break from 8-9, with the next session at 9 pm being fully attended even on a week night.
FUN TIME!

5 star show experience
2 stars for everything leading up to It

Received an email the night before saying "see you at 6!"
Show up at 6 and the doors dont open until 7 - no food, which is contrary to the establishment's website.

Artist didn't go on until 10:30

Was a great show and a good vibe, but better communication might have prevented 4.5 hours of standing around, hungrily, wondering when the show would start

What a fun evening and venue. We had the pleasure of hearing a jazz ensemble that was infused with a slight Latin flare. As soon as you walk in, you are transformed into another place and time. Beautifully decorated with a lovely dance floor and a clam shell stage which enhanced the full experience. We did have dinner with the show and the food was not the highlight, being more banquet style, but it didn't distract or take away from the night. If you have a chance to grab some tickets it's definitely worth it. Had a wonderful time.

Wow. The place is absolutely stunning with so much attention to the details. The design and aesthetic make you forget you're in San Diego for a moment. Pricing for tickets was much cheaper than expected, and we found the seating to be first come first served, although a couple of the best tables were already reserved somehow. The drinks were tasty and the service was very good. The only thing was that some of the tables on the sides made it difficult to see the stage because of the large columns, but found that many groups repositioned their tables/chairs to have a better view, so we did the same. Would go back.

What a beautiful venue! My partner and I went to watch John Waters and we had a great time. I expect a lot of folks were confused about there not being food since the place heavily refers to itself as a supper club, and the website is inconsistent in saying there will or will not be dinner for shows or sometimes not saying anything at all. Hopefully they can tweak their site to make that more clear. Also the keeping our credit card to purchase drinks is a bit unusual, especially as we purchased tickets to the show and were sitting at a table. I'd recommend not doing that or just letting people order via a website, as handing out a credit card isn't something I like to do.

I know that is a bunch of feedback but I am still giving it 5 stars because they really have nice service and the venue is gorgeous.

Although the ambiance is terrific and the music was good the service is the worst I have ever experienced. The waiter refused to take our drink order as he walked by and the bartender also refused to take our order. So most in our group didn’t drink all evening. Never been to a bar like this in 40 years of going to bars.
