I want to draw your attention to one of my favorite hidden gems of SF: The Peacock Lounge on Haight. With an esoteric history linked to the Black Masons, and as one of the oldest institutions on Haight Street, the "Legendary" Peacock Lounge is... legendary! This past December (2023) the Peacock Lounge kicked off a Friday night jazz series. This is such an amazing night of music and such a special meeting place for Bay Area jazz musicians, in particular Black artists. The talent in the room every week is top notch and the sense of community is palpable.

The atmosphere is casual yet can be romantic-they sell beers, cocktails and sodas, and patrons are encouraged to bring their own dinner and enjoy their meal during the show. Music kicks off around 8:00 p.m.
