I traveled to Protective Stadium in December 2023 to represent the Duke University Marching Band (go nets!)

The 2023 reprisal of the Birmingham Bowl featured a matchup between Duke vs Troy, and I’d like to extend props to all the Troy fans that showed up. Every Troy fan I met was kind and passionate about their team, which I respect greatly.

The stadium has good acoustics, a wide scoreboard, and decent food. Overall, it was a blast to visit Protective Stadium!

Great atmosphere. Great people. Everyone was pleasant with great customer service. And oh my goodness, the cleanest PUBLIC bathrooms I've ever used in my life. Juneteenth was my second attendance at the stadium. I will be attending so many more events in the future. Thank you to all the BJCC workers for such outstanding customer service.

Dear Lord, please don't let my parents have heat stroke here.

Seriously tho.. it's Alabama. Why not more shaded seats? When half the attendance is hiding, huddled together, under the shade there's a serious disconnect between usability and coolness.
The stadium is great, the seating is atrocious. In a state known for how hot it can get - why wasn't this a thought? It's 89 today and people are hitting the floor with heat issues because their seats are in the sun.
Notice where people are sitting..

Great place for family fun and activities. There is something for all ages. Accessible to all interstates and highways. Clean, very well secured, spacious and has a lot a variety of things to eat including the nostalgia American hot dog. Parking kind of sucks or a better plan on how to notify fans on where to park should be advertised better. I appreciate the community involvement in inviting area highschool bands to come and play. Good deal!

Overall a great experience and getting in and out was ok. Only issue we had was is the stadium and the civic center are all under the BJCC. My daughter had a small purse that we felt was in the guidelines. Was allowed into the Civic Center but was denied entry to the Stadium. I get it was about an inch out in height. Yet the officer that was there was completely out of line. When my daughter was caught of guard she became upset. She took a step to say something to my wife. He yelled and put his hands on her. I get he didn’t realize my wife had been let in and was ahead of her. We took the purse back to the car. Yet once getting in we say so many bags way out of allowed sizes. I think they need a better way to check the size and enforce it more consistently.
Also be prepared as with all event stadiums the food prices our way out there. Like 6 dollars for a 20 oz bottled drink. I wasn’t shocked just wanted to warn some that may not be prepared.
Again the place is amazing and overall is well ran. Just some inconsistent enforcement of policy. Also an officer with a power trip.

Beautiful stadium that is easy to find, park at, and navigate. Prices for concessions are astronomical but expected lol
