A great experience volunteering to help out with float building. Helped cutting & glueing flowers, primarily white & dark red mums and red carnations to decorate the Saluting America's Band Director's float for the Tournament of Roses Parade!

Had the chance the past 2 parades to decorate the #CalPoly float... What an experience! What a neat educational opportunity for the students (you can just see all the inherent tough engineering questions in building a float of this magnitude-48'x31'x23'... Pondering the materials estimates for the flowers I was snipping away at today was fascinating enough alone).

Try it out for yourself. I must say, waaaay more volunteers at @calpolypomoma

$20 a person to see the floats being worked on. Online it says it is a timed entry but once you get there it’s just one long line. The timed entry thing is pointless as long as you bought a ticket that is all that matters. We got there at 1pm for our 1pm-2pm entry. Anyway, we were told it would be over 1 hour wait but it was only 25ish min. We walked through in 15 min. Parking was free in lot H.
It’s too bad you can’t be on the ground level, you are above. Yes, it’s cool to see but not worth it in my opinion, I left a little disappointed. Didn’t live up to the websites hype.

My wife and I went to help build floats for the Rose Parade. The staff NOT at the pavilion had half a clue what was going on or where to direct people. The left hand had no idea what the right was doing.
