Kilgore Museum - A Must-Visit!

I had the most amazing experience at the Kilgore Museum! It's truly a hidden gem, and I highly recommend anyone in the area to check it out. Chuck, who gave my daughter and me a guided tour, was absolutely incredible. His wealth of knowledge about the exhibits and history really brought the museum to life. We learned so much and had a fantastic time. If you're ever in Kilgore, don't miss this place – it's a must-visit!

I was there as a part of a school field trip and not only were the tour guides kind and patience with the students but very informative in reference to each and every piece there.

The vintage travel radio bus was an amazing restored piece and the working interactive news center was a hit for all the kids there.

Thank you for the devotion you show in each of your displays and for making us feel so welcome!

Totally worth the trip! Michael Suhar and I had a really nice time and the staff is wonderful. So much to see and learn. Make sure you have plenty of space in your phone for all the pictures you will want to take. Mick Williams and I have been there Nov 2020 and Nov 2021 for the Texas Radio Hall of Fame Ceremony on behalf of Cyber-Line. They keep adding new things too so it's totally worth going again and again!!

If you love technology and/or broadcasting, this is THE place to be in East Texas! They have historic equipment that were integral to bringing entertainment & news to the masses here - from the early days of the 20's and 30's up through the 80's and 90's. From behind the scenes, to what we had in our homes.. such as TV sets, radios, phonographs, video cameras, and so much more.

They even have a mobile camera that was on-site during what would be Lee Harvey Oswald's assassination by Jack Ruby, from KRLD-TV in Dallas. Also on site is a former ESPN mobile truck, complete with production equipment.

Easily the best $10 you can spend in Gregg County..!

They are open Friday and Saturday at 10am, with all other days by appointment only.

We had such a great time learning about how television was produced from the beginning. We enjoyed the tour provided by Chuck Conrad the Executive Director. As a control room technician in the late 70s and 80s during college this museum brought back many memories. It has been on my bucket list for a long time. I would highly recommend a visit. There is a lot see here and you can easily spend a few hours. Have Fun!
