They were rude to a friend of mine. Here is what was published in the Monroe Journal on 10/3/19 : Recently, I have decided that I needed to get some business cards made. So today, while I was in town, I thought that I would go into the places that I know provide that type of service. The first one that I went into was The Printery. I have known the owners for many years and know that they do good work. I told them that I needed a business card and needed a price for them. I was asked what I would need on the card and I responded that I needed a Republican logo and my contact information. Well the response that I got was certainly not what I expected, to say the least! I was told by the owner, “I don’t know how you can hold your head up with that leader y’all have!” Then the other owner went into an angry tirade about what was going to happen to President Trump! His rant went on for a couple of minutes as I stood there astonished at what was happening! My only response was that “I’m just waiting to hear the facts.” I did not know what to say and did not want to say anything that I would regret, so I just told them that I would get back to them. Honestly, they would be very foolish to think that I would actually pay them to do a service for me after that!
I am not a confrontational person and was so shaken up by what I had just experienced that all I could do was to go sit down in the coffee shop and calm down. Never in my life have I been so verbally accosted by people that I thought of as friends and neighbors. And, for the life of me, I cannot understand why they felt that they should treat me the way that they did.
It did not matter to me what the owners’ party affiliation was. I knew where they stood politically before I went into their business. I was merely trying to purchase a product that they offered. I believe that people with differing points of view should be able to get along and respect each other’s opinions without attack or insult. Apparently, some people are not capable of ‘agree(ing) to disagree.
