Great music venue at the racetrack in Del Mar. It seats about 2000, most in the general admission standing area (you can get closer to the stage than the seating area allows). The outer area has several bathrooms, 4 bars, a takeaway food place and merchandise sales. There's an exterior area for smoking. The acoustics are fantastic and the design of the interior is really nice. Don't forget ear protection for concerts!

The Sound in Del Mar, CA, is a fantastic concert venue! We tried to stand in the center of the room to get the best impression, and I have to say that the acoustics are outstanding. The amenities were great, even the bathrooms. The food counters were super convenient. There was even a place for tacos! Obviously, there was a dedicated merch corner and well-stocked bars. Prices are pretty high, but I guess that's to be expected. You'll also find ample parking available, provided another event isn't happening at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. This venue is an excellent addition to the North County music scene.

Acoustics are good. Venue/concourse amenities are good. But the VIP/seating layout is a little odd. Sat at stage-right VIP bar stools, and the lateral spacing and tiered heights don't seem to be thought out well, when designing the venue's interior.
Nevertheless, the concert was a success.

Went to see a concert and the place is beautiful. It's been years since my hubby and I had seen a concert and haircut 100, ABC, and Howard Jones was amazing.
The only thing I was not happy about was when we bought the general admission tickets was that I was not sure what to expect since we both had never been to this venue in the past we are both in our 50s and are not in the best of shape so if I knew we would be standing for several hours I would have vouched for tickets with seats. No fault of the facilities that's why they still get 5 stars. Concert tickets are so expensive these days and I am so grateful I got to see one of my childhood favorites live in concert for a decent price, ABC!

Totally forgot to give this Venue a 5 Star rating.. The venue was extremely organized and the “Goth Babe” concert was a blast! I was visiting from Bakersfield California and drove up to see goth babe on 09/28/2024

My experience here was amazing! I had such a great time the location is also so good it’s just 2 mile away from the beach so it was amazing seeing the ocean from the venue . it was also so much fun to be in Del Mar in general the vibes and the atmosphere is just so amazing something out of this world ..

My 2 minor complaints would have to be the front where I was the floor had something sticky on it and was on my shoes the whole concert .
The crowd was very friendly until one girl rammed her drunk self (to be expected lol) into me and my friend and basically put us behind her because she wanted to be front row even tho we were paid VIP for that I think VIP section does need to be closed off tho in my opinion, especially if you pay extra to be up there !

overall i had a blast and the night was extremely memorable! The Aces and Goth Babe sound awesome live I had no issues with the concert loved every single minute of it on 09/28/2024 a night I’ll never forget ? I really loved this venue the food was very good here as well I forgot to snag a photo of my meal in here , the beer wasn’t that pricy but we had like 4 each so I ended up paying around 80-90ish if I can remember because I did get a little drunk towards the end after 4 tall cans.

Oh and the staff was awesome they know how to do there job ! Top notch service!

Unique venue, highly recommend getting a reserved seat to make sure you have some space and a decent viewing angle of the stage. Saw Rodrigo Y Gabriella and as usual they put on an amazing show, the audio inside the building was great.

I had a wonderful experience. The shape and layout of this venue is an incredible design....so that standing audience can be in the front, while also giving handicapped and paid audience to have choices of upstairs seating or sitting downstairs, which still had a good view. Then, people with standard tickets can still stand behind them, still having great view.

They had two food Booths, as well as a large beer/wine counter.

I would recommend this venue to others!

I would have loved to enjoy the music from the artist I was trying to watch, but there were so many humans shoved into a poorly temperature controlled venue that it was miserable. There was not enough room to sway ones own body. I've never seen anything like it. I arrived an hour early to get a good spot on the floor, but eventually had to move to another location as people were pushing and literally on top of one another.

In addition to the more than uncomfy environment, parking is an additional $20. I'd skip this venture if you can. The Music Box and Belly Up have a much better vibe.
