We hired Mark, who said he was bringing an assistant. My husband and I interviewed Mark specifically and felt comfortable with him. But he was not at the wedding, but two of his employees were? He did not tell me he would not be at the wedding. The staff who were there did not exude a positive or cheery attitude with my guests, my vendors, or with my family. Specifically, he was rude to my mom. I refer to the staff as "DJ Timbo."

My mother (I'm still incredulous at this) had to interfere when DJ Timbo blocked my bartenders in on the porch with their equipment. DJ Timbo even floated the idea of an additional setup fee since he had to move his equipment off the porch after his initial set up on the porch (this was NEVER in our plan in the first place and Kim never mentioned this to me) to the lawn - which was the original plan when he and I were coordinating in person. The original plan was for the bartenders to be on the porch, always. The rain plan was for the bartenders to set up inside the Baker, or inside the Blue House, and the DJ would be on the porch. But the rain plan was not needed.

DJ Timbo (and my wedding planner) thought music had to stop at 10pm or we would be fined due to a sound ordinance. A staff from the setup/tear down team called the Argenta police to inquire. We only had to turn down the music to be compliant. The Baker is a downtown venue where bars and restaurants are just down the street. When we found out the music could continue, we had already played our final 2 exit songs, which was so disappointing! When I told staff at the Baker what had happened, they were shocked because the sound ordinance should have been a non-issue. Guests were under the impression that dancing would stop and the reception would potentially need to move to a bar down the street because my husband and I were given the wrong information.

DJ Timbo started to tear down about 10:15pm even though we had paid him through 11pm. My mom stopped him. Also, DJ Timbo played 3 group dance songs in a row, which felt excessive. I would have preferred them to be split up throughout the night, or have 1-2 normal songs in between.

DJ Timbo did an amazing job at our wedding reception!! He made it so much fun, people were on the dance floor ALL NIGHT. He is super relaxed and easy to communicate with, which takes away any stress you may have had. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR A PARTY EVERYONE WILL REMEMBER!

My understanding was, Kim (Kimber Decor Events) had done weddings at the Baker before, rain or shine, and since my wedding was small (70 people) she would have no problem keeping up. She recommended DJ Timbo. Her negative influence on my wedding, what I now call the “Kim Effect,” will be a story we laugh about later - but brides, I do not want you to have the experience that I did.

One of the red flags with Kimber Decor began with her interactions with my vendors, when the Kim Effect was in full swing. She caused disorganization and tension among the vendors, in particular DJ Timbo, Bar Arkansas (bartenders), and Hire Quest. I hired Kim to decide where the best placement for vendors would be, since rain was in the forecast (we dodged the rain thankfully!!). The mother of the bride (I'm still incredulous at this) had to interfere when DJ Timbo blocked Bar Arkansas in on the porch with their equipment. She was talking “smack” about the bartender to the Hire Quest workers, whom I had hired! My mom overheard this (and thankfully did not tell me until after the wedding!)

DJ Timbo was inflexible, resistant, and even rude at times with my mother, when she offered suggestions regarding where to set up. She should not have had to do this (again, where was Kim?). When my now-husband and I met with DJ Timbo, we got a good vibe from him. The day of the wedding, the Kim Effect trashed it. He did not exude a positive or cheery attitude with my guests, my vendors, or with my family. Kimber Decor recommended DJ Timbo - another strike for the Kim Effect.

At 9:50pm, when we had been dancing for about 20 minutes, the Kim Effect escalated further. None of the events below would have happened if she had met on Friday with the Baker staff to get a run-down, or even had someone's number who worked at the Baker. The Baker staff said they noticed Kim was there, but she never introduced herself. Kim informed me (incorrectly) that the Argenta District had a sound ordinance at 10pm and music would have to stop or we would get fined - and mild panic between my husband and I ensued. Our playlist we had been building since before we got engaged would have to stop at 10pm? This was not discussed in the Baker contract, with the DJ, or with Kimber Decor.
I became angry and confused, as did my mom. I played what were supposed to be the final two carefully selected send-off songs much too early. It was heartbreaking and confusing for my husband and me. A staff from Hire Quest (bless him!!) called the Argenta police department to ask about the sound ordinance. They said as long as music was turned down a bit no one would give us a ticket, with the Baker being a downtown venue where bars and restaurants were just down the street. Kimber Decor and DJ Timbo were uninformed (and lacked common sense) on the realities of the sound ordinance. When I told staff at the Baker what had happened, they were shocked Kimber Decor had alarmed us about something that should have been a non-issue.

Brides, do not hire Kimber Decor or DJ Timbo.

I used Timbo Promotions for my wedding this weekend and they were definitely one of my top vendors! They were so responsive, accommodating, and laid back. I had a lot of requests for what songs I wanted played and I even wrote little intros I wanted announced for my bridal party as they walked in and they knocked it out of the park for each one! Highly recommend Timbo Promotions!

Mark was an amazing DJ for my daughter's wedding. He is such a professional--and such a kind person. He took care of our requests, made great suggestions for improvements, and helped make the day great, from ceremony to reception. We really went back and forth on having a DJ or not for our wedding reception. It was the best decision we could have made. Mark was brilliant from the beginning. He was in communication with us often, but not overbearing. He assured me that they would take care of everything. Rick handled our reception and also was in contact with me to make sure he knew everything I wanted. He kept our guests entertained prior to our arrival and catered to all requests we threw at him. He came early and stayed for another hour when we realized it was such a good time we couldn't let him go! Our guests told us how much fun they had. The lighting was amazing, the music was great, and Rick and Mark were perfect. You need this team for your event!

Mark was the best. He made sure we were comfortable with the layout before the reception, took our music choices into consideration while making the playlist, and played the PERFECT music based on my wedding guests! The dance floor was never empty! Thank you for making our reception so special. It was the everything we could have asked for!

Mark Timmons was really great from start to finish. He gave a great personal touch with meeting first in person but was never more than a call or text away. He was very accommodating and his calm presence was a godsend during planning. No matter what unexpected surprises were hitting us on the day of, he made sure that we would have everything we wanted and that we were taken care of. I cannot recommend him enough and wish him nothing but the best!
