The staff at its more than speech are some of the most knowledgeable, patient, and kind people I have met. The administrative staff have always worked with me on scheduling, billing, and any other paperwork issues that may arise.
The therapists are all amazing. You can tell they love what they do. They are incredibly knowledgeable. When I would bring a concern to them they would address it and at times if they weren’t sure, they would all meet together to confer before addressing it.
My son went from saying less than 20 unintelligible words at the age of two to saying so much we have to remind him to slow down so we can understand him. Our hearts were saddened to leave the amazing team at Its More Than Speech when we moved out of state. We are so so thankful for all the amazing early intervention he received while he was in Alaska.

Over the past year and change, have had the opportunity to see therapists at both the Eagle River and Wasilla locations, starting when my son was 2. It has always been a safe, calming place where he has fun learning and doesn’t like to leave. We have seen great progress in that time and he is currently in their summer camp program working with several therapists learning alongside other kids.
As a parent, I appreciate how great the communication is from clinic staff and the therapists are incredibly supportive and wonderful in helping us as parents complement the work they do in session. Bonus- IMTS started doing an informational and learning series for parents that I have found valuable.
My son is excited to attend his sessions and we are so grateful for the support and guidance ITMS has given our family. It’s More Than Speech truly lives up to their name!

I have the highest regard for It's More Than Speech and all the providers my son saw during his time in Alaska. The providers are educated, personable, and truly care about the progress of your child. They strive to help understand your family/school circumstances so your child can thrive in those settings. Truly, everyone there has their heart in their work and it shows. A gem in Eagle River for speech, social skills, and tutoring.

My son with ASD didn't really start talking much until 2 1/2 years old.  Around April 2021, we had been on wait lists at two highly sought after speech clinics for at least 8 months at that point when I happen to see the "It's More Than Speech" clinic in Eagle River.  I had an inkling and called to inquire about waitlists and get more information about availability.  I spoke with Beth. I was really appreciative of how much time she took on the phone to explain to me how it all works and was really patient with my questions.  Within two weeks, my son had his first appointment, and there was no looking back!  For the next year and change, my son had appointments twice per week- sometimes with the same provider, sometimes it varied; however- everyone in the office was a familiar face and he never expressed discomfort.  In this time frame, the amazing providers worked with him on several speech sounds that he struggleD with.  Most notable to mind is the sound an "f" makes and many s-blends.  Because well, it IS more than speech, they also work with him on conversation skills, social cues, and social etiquette to help him navigate those conversations with others.  There was a noticeable difference in length of sentences he was using and now talks in paragraphs, tell stories, recall memories to share and can express what has happened in recent past (What did you get to do after school today? What did you eat for breakfast?)  He is able to very basically express different emotions he is feeling whether it be excited, angry, bored, happy, etc.
Successfully only being able to ask him yes/no questions has emerged into asking him a question and providing options to choose from for an answer and even further , NOW, I am able to ask him questions that require an abstract answer (think "wh" questions), and majority of the time, he is able to craft that on his own!
Over summer 2022, this speech clinic did a program (I call it "Speech Camp"), where it was group speech sessions, but really integrated all of the skills learned over the fall and winter to learn how to apply them in social settings with same age/skill-leveled peers.  A boy who never used to approach kids to ask to play, now runs up to kids at the playground to not only see if they want to play, but introduces himself and asks their names back!!  He has confidence I never imagined now and often says hello to strangers passing by in the store, just to be friendly!!!  It's amazing the leaps and bounds and the exponential improvement in his communication skills and intelligibility, especially in such a short period of time.
I have been impressed with all of the providers we have seen there. They all seem to work off the same philosophies, they integrate work and play into each other during sessions, build great relationships with the clients and families, very professional to work with, incredibly knowledgable of their craft, and my favorite is that no one seems to be a pushover so my son can't manipulate the session!  Also, for most of the summer, I was dealing with a huge insurance snaffoo- for all with a special needs child, you know how many headaches can be had with all the insurance dealings.  The clinic was VERY patient with me in working through it; and so add that to the reason I'm so appreciative of this diamond in the rough!
I have only experienced the Eagle River location, but can't imagine the Wasilla clinic would be just the same experience!!

It's More than Speech is our very favorite! We have two children (ages 3 and 8, one with Down Syndrome and another with Dyslexia) receiving services thru them and both children look forward to each session they have! Positive, professional and knowledgeable, It's More than Speech provides quality services that enrich, empower, and encourage our children. Our experiences there have been nothing other than positive and we would recommend to anyone!
